LATEST NEWS Guidance Officers can request FREE copies of the project u DVD and a new resource guide This is both a great resource of class-based career guidance classes and for students to use individually. WHAT IS PROJECT U? project u is a unique interactive outreach project aimed at high school students from equity target groups (Indigenous students, regional and rural students, students from low-income backgrounds and non English-speaking backgrounds). The aim of the project is to encourage students from disadvantaged backgrounds to consider university as one of their post-school options. WHAT'S IN IT? We surveyed current high school students from Years 10, 11 and 12 to ask them why they didn’t think that university is within their reach. There were many fears, concerns and misconceptions. Then we talked to current university students about how they handled the key decision-making milestones in their lives, overcoming obstacles and busting myths. This is the information that project u shares with current high school students. IT'S FREE! project u consists of an interactive DVD (see the promotional clip adjacent) available to all students free of charge and supported by this website linking students, parents and you to vital resources. HOW YOU CAN HELP. As Guidance Officers and Career Advisors you play a key role in assisting and encouraging high school students to consider all their options. project u is another tool that you can use to hopefully inspire and inform your students.
